Ronald van Tiel is an independent researcher in foundational physics and a business entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of FleetGO, a successful European software company he started in 2007. His passion for building things from the core up runs through both his entrepreneurial work and his research.
From an early age, his interests were split between two worlds: software development and theoretical physics. As a teenager, he discovered a copy of Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time on a school bus, which triggered a lasting fascination with the nature of reality. That fascination slowly grew into a lifelong quest to deepen his understanding of the foundations of physics.
Today, he works on quantum foundations and quantum gravity, developing the Action–Wave Space (AWS) framework: a single-scalar, action-based approach that aims to derive spacetime, quantum theory, and gauge structure from one underlying phase geometry. He continues to divide his time between leading FleetGO and pursuing this foundational programme in physics.
